Corporate Social Responsibility in Melbourne

MCVB is committed to leading and supporting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental initiatives within the Business Events industry and the wider community.

Donation Program

MCVB's CSR Donation Program creates the opportunity for an organisation to offer its guest speakers and clients the option of donating to a Victorian charity of their choice in recognition of their contribution to MCVB. At MCVB's 2010 Annual General Meeting, for example, sporting personality, Matt Welsh, donated his speaker's fee to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.

Green Tools and Advice

MCVB offers a suite of award winning 'green' tools and initiatives to encourage and educate meeting organisers in running environmentally friendly Business Events.

As an example, MCVB's Event Carbon Calculator calculates the carbon emissions of events held in Melbourne or Victoria and offers advice on offsetting these.

For incentive travel, MCVB's low carbon impact travel website allows planners to make an educated choice in their procurement and planning processes and includes Victoria's top ten green incentive activities (www.mcvb.com.au/incentives/green).

To identify the green initiatives of Victoria's Business Events suppliers, Melbourne's 'Green Credentials' Report is a comprehensive publication that is updated online annually, with the 2011 edition expanding once again to feature more than 80 suppliers.

MCVB members who have submitted information for the 'Green Credentials' Report are identified with a green logo on MCVB promotional and event planning materials.
