Flying within Australia
Melbourne Airport offers over 390 flights every day to and from major cities and regional areas around Australia. Five domestic airlines operate at Melbourne Airport, including Qantas, Regional Express and low-cost carriers Jetstar and Virgin Blue. More than 20 million passengers passed through Melbourne Airport last year, more than 55,000 every day. Ranked in the top five world airports for quality passenger service, Melbourne Airport offers a 24 hour single terminal precinct and is the only Australian airport to have won Australian Tourism Awards for General Tourism services. With domestic only a short walk from the international terminals, transfers are hassle free and within minutes.

Integrated Public Transport
Melbourne’s Metlink ticketing system allows multiple journeys using the complete Metlink transport network. Tickets are know as Metcards and provide flexible travel on trains, trams and buses. Check maps located at stations, tram stops and on transport to match your ticket to your journey. Melbourne can also provide Delegate Passes on its transport network which can be supplemented by coach shuttle services if required. Much of Melbourne’s tram and rail fleet will be either replaced or refurbished in time for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. The $700 million Southern Cross Station (formerly Spencer Street Station) now nearing completion will provide a major transport hub for interstate and metropolitan trains and the Airport Shuttle (Skybus). City Circle Tram
The free City Circle tram provides visitors to Melbourne with a great way to not only navigate the city but provides a short cut to many of Melbourne’s landmarks. Trams and Trains
Tram routes cover the city and inner suburbs. The city is the central hub of the train and tram network. A ticket must be bought for train and tram travel according to the zone and time of travel. The major train station is Flinders Street, and Spencer Street is the connecting station between Melbourne and Regional Victorian trains (V/line).

Buses

Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle
Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle has a free bus service that compliments the City Circle Tram, the service runs every 15 minutes between 10am and 4pm every day. The bus route has 15 stops, travelling around the outskirts of the CBD, with an audio commentary and brochure stands provide information on key attractions. The route takes approximately 40 minutes.

Travelling to Regional Victoria
V/Line train services operate to and from Melbourne on the Geelong line in the southwest, Ballarat in western Victoria, Bendigo, Swan Hill and Echuca in the north, Seymour and Wodonga in the north-east, and Traralgon and Sale in the state’s east.
